I Know That Feeling....
I hear you!
Around 10 years ago, I was stuck in a rut.
While I’d achieved my goals of becoming a qualified nurse and buying my own apartment at the age of 23, I had no time to enjoy my own place seeing as I was working in two jobs. The ongoing stress lasted at least 6 years.
I spent most days crying at home after work. I was beyond mentally tired and overwhelmed from working two jobs, leaving home at 5.40 am, and getting home by around 9 pm. I worked in the emergency department, meaning I had to rush off at noon to reach my other job in the theatre where I stayed until around 7.30 pm.
The weight of guilt started to get heavy. I wanted to feel energized at work, for my family, and for myself but I couldn’t. I was, unfortunately, putting far too much pressure on myself.
I was also held back by limiting beliefs, assumptions, and unrealistic expectations, like:
A nurse is “supposed” to be happy and healthy all the time
Nurses are care providers, not -receivers
Asking for help as a nurse makes you “weak”
⏰ The alarming lack of emotional support or leadership skills from my supervisors and directors didn’t help. Eventually, all the stress made me ill.
I developed gut issues that often caused serious pain and discomfort during my shifts. But what was I supposed to do? We were understaffed, and I had patients to heal and co-workers to support.
My performance and health weren’t all there, and as a nurse, I knew it was time to nurse my own life back to health to better serve others.

The answer hit me like a ton of bricks, and the journey began when I decided to change my own life.
I’ve spent the past 7+ years creating a better life for myself, a life defined by freedom, love, joy, self-confidence, emotional stability, and a deep-rooted sense of personal power 💫
